| Massive BFBC2 Update |
|
Last Friday I received a special package in the mail which came in an envelope stamped with my name on it and a BFBC2 logo. Inside contained a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Tactical Field Manual filled with information about the map Port Valdez. Everything from strategy, vehicles, soldier kits, and weapons is all here. The front cover of the manual lists UltimatePrestige.com, a site that has much of the same information in this booklet.
Below you'll find pictures of all the pages in the manual including some really cool snapshots which were tucked away in a little pocket of the back cover.
Thanks to EA & DICE for sending this out!

We were sent some news today about an Australian eSports commentary service called Gamestah, who have started to shoutcasting Bad Company 2 beta matches. They even have a league setup consisting of 96 teams.
Gamestah have video casted the first Battlefield Bad company 2 Match. Using the beta, Cybergamer are currently hosting a beta league with 96 Teams in the running in three brackets.
We were able to cast multiple matches live on our website at http://www.gamestah.com, and it's been excellent watching. The biggest thing noticed was how different each teams strategy is currently at this early stage.
The video cast of a close well fought match is available at: http://www.gamestah.com/file/view/3650.
Gamestah will be around for the Bad Company 2 players out there and will be looking forward to continue casting for the beta cup now and when the game is finally launched.

How many maps will be in Battlefield: Bad Company 2? 8, 12, 16 or more? We don't know for sure, but here is what we do know.
•Tactical Field Guide on UltimatePrestige.com lists 8 maps
•Members on BFeditor.org forums found 10 12 map loading screens in the PC beta
•DICE programmer, Mikael Kalms responded to a tweet asking how many maps there will be at launch and quoted this from an IGN review published back in December.
@Kalmalyzer Its really a great game you got here May you tell me how many maps we see at launch?
@Remon255 http://bit.ly/9ihfMS - "there will be at least 16 new multiplayer maps"
It's possible not all the maps have been posted on UltimatePrestige.com and not all of loading screens were finished by the time the PC beta went out. We also don't know if the 16 maps talked about above includes or excludes variants such as rush and conquest.
There is a rumor posted by BadCompany2Blog.com stating that Strike at Karkand is coming as free DLC post launch. The source seems to be a friend of a friend of a friend so I wouldn't take this too seriously, but it could be a possibility. Karkand still is a big time favorite of Battlefield 2 players.

The ESRB dropped some hints at what we might be seeing in the single player portion of Bad Company 2, which might bring us back to World War II. If your wondering the game did get a Mature rating.
This is a first-person shooter featuring two modes of gameplay: single player, in which players control soldiers on a mission to stop terrorists; and multiplayer, in which players engage in team-based combat ("Conquest," "Rush," "Squad Rush," and "Squad Death Match"). Both modes involve using machine guns, rifles, grenade launchers, and rockets to kill enemy soldiers on the battlefield. In single-player mode, players conduct missions on an unnamed Japanese island during World War II and then move into the modern day through jungles, deserts, and snowy terrain. The firefights contain realistic gunfire, loud explosions, cries of pain; large sprays of blood come out of injured characters during the fast-paced combat. There are also close-up depictions of knife-stabbing (flesh-impact sounds) and melee attacks with a power drill. Multiplayer mode tends to involve more goal-oriented tasks, such as "capturing-the-flag," destroying and defending crates, point-based fighting. Characters use profanity (e.g., "f**k," "sh*t," and "a*shole") during cutscenes and in the heat of battle.

Since some sneaky people found the site listed on the Tactical Field Manual I received in the mail, here is the url to basically an online version - UltimatePrestige.com. You'll find tons of information on vehicles, weapons, maps, and strategy. We are working on getting this information in our game information sections as well.

Alt+F4 have caught an interesting data. BC2 beta has surpassed BF2 on the Xfire rankings in about a week.
It's only taken a week for the BFBC2 beta to move ahead of Battlefield 2 in the Xfire rankings. BF2 has been in the top 6-7 at Xfire since its the game's launch way back in June 2005. Not anymore. According to Xfire's stats, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was the sixth most played game they track and BF2 was down at number 10. When I checked late last week BF2 was in the sixth spot with BFBC2 beta nowhere to be seen.
It's remarkable that a game in a more-or-less limited beta can already be played more minutes than the ever-popular BF2 that has sold millions of units and has been a mainstay for years with gamers. While we wait for EA to release a formal sequel to Battlefield 2, it looks like the BF torch is being passed to BFBC2 by the fans of the game.
